I just had to!
Braves catcher, Evan Gattis, continues to amaze me. Even though he has cooled off from his torrid MLB debut, he stepped up the other day and hit homers #17 and #18 against Phillies RHP, Cole Hamels.
His first which came in the 2nd inning was a tape measure shot into the concourse in centerfield at Citizens Bank Park. It was the longest home run hit this year and measured 486 feet. It was also the longest home run in the 10-year history of Citizens Bank Park.
Gattis has started the last 5 games for the Braves in left field and seems to be learning the position quickly. He’s still making the routine fly exciting, but I like his attitude and the fact that he wants to be in the line-up everyday.
Jose Fernandez and Yasiel Puig are in a dead heat for the NL Rookie of the Year title, but I’ll take Gattis over either of them any day.
We’re into the stretch and the marathon has turned into a sprint.
